Welcome!

Dear Fellow Canadian Sports (Golf) Fans!
My name is Shawn McDonald and this is my new blog surrounding the performance of up and coming Canadian Golf stars David Hearn and Graham DeLaet.  Throughout the next couple of months I will be blogging about their performance within the PGA Tour Tournaments.  Since these two Canadian boys are not "superstars" in the golf world just yet, they have to participate in more tournaments than the best of best in order to gain more FedEx points and to win more money.  Therefore, I will be following (and watching) most of the PGA Tournaments that these two golfers are competing in to see how well they preform and will rely the information here. Also, if there is any media following them I will post that information as well.  Since social media has become such a huge aspect in today's "modern" society, I have decided to follow both of these players on Twitter.  If they tweet anything that I think would be worth blogging about I will do so.  After starting to follow these two players I have come to know that they are actually friends as well and often have dinner together while on tour (tweet from both of them).  Finally, I have attached a photo of each player at the bottom of this page.  David is on the left and Graham is on the right. As well, at the bottom of the page there is a link to the PGA Tour website where you can find information about each player, up coming tournaments and tournament results.
For my first blog I am going to introduce each player with a brief background and their results from their first PGA Tournament this year.  I am going to start with David Hearn. David is a Brampton, Ontario native who was born June 17th, 1979. He is 6 foot 1 inch and weighs about 170 pounds. After high school, David went south to University of Wyoming to studying Psychology.  He turned pro in 2001 and graduated from the University of Wyoming in 2008. Between 2001 and 2004 David mainly competed at the Canadian Open and a couple other events. However, in 2004 David earn his tour card by shooting an impressive -8 at the PGA TOUR Qualifier. The next year in 2005 he had busy year competing 24 events and making the cut 10 times. From 2006 to 2010 he then just played in the Canadian Open and regained his TOUR card in 2010. In 2011 he played in 26 events, making the cut 19 times with his highest finish at tied for 5th. That brings us to 2012; so far he has just competed in one event which was Sony Open in Hawaii from January 12th to the 15th. All and all his started off on a positive note by finishing tied for the 10th spot taking home a respectable $137,500 US Dollars.
Next is Graham DeLaet. He is a native of Weyburn, Saskatchewan who was born January 22nd, 1982. He is 5 foot 11 inches and weighs about 165 pounds.  Graham went to Boise State University in Boise, Idaho to study Physical Education and graduate in 2006. On top of graduating University in 2006, Graham also turned pro. For the first couple of years Graham only competed in the Canadian Open and the World cup but in 2009 he competed in the PGA TOUR Qualifier and shot an amazing -15 which then granted him his Tour card for the next season. In 2010 he competed in 28 events making the cut 15 times with his highest finish tied for 3rd at the Shell Houston Open. In 2011 he only competed in a couple events. Now with a new season schedule for 2012, he competed in the Sony Open in Hawaii (same as Hearn) and finished tied for 29th.
Overall, both of these players have had a good start to the 2012 season and I look forward to following their progress and success while relaying the information and my own thoughts to you as well.
